I enjoyed talking to all of you last Thursday! The sessions are always short, so if there is anything that you would like to finish discussing, please let me know.
This week is Lutherans School Week and we have so many fun things planned. On Monday, we dressed up in our best Hawaiian gear and listened to a beautiful folktale told by Chris Fascione. Today was decade day and, our decade was the 90's. They looked so cute! We did an all-school Kahoot, where we had to answer questions about Grace, its pets, its teacher, and its students. Wednesday will be pajama day, along with a read-aloud with Mrs. Van Santen. Thursday is our color day, and third grade is wearing yellow. On that day, we will write letters to our grandparents. Friday is grandparent's day, and it’s a half-day. We will dress up in our superhero gear and have an outdoor activity for the bulk of the day. I will post all of the pictures on Class Dojo! Math: We will be taking our math test on Thursday. We started reviewing for the test last week and will finish up on Wednesday. Reading: We reviewed expository text and main idea as that is a continued focus this week. We are reading Newsela articles about different animals around the world. Today we talked about the features that told us that we were reading an expository text and how we could find the main idea. Prefixes have come back around, as our spelling words focus on pre-, mis-, and dis-. We will also spend some time learning about root words and how they connect to prefixes and suffixes. Social Studies: We are wrapping up our country projects and they will begin to present them. I will be sure to record their presentations and post them on Class Dojo. Next Tuesday, we will start chapter 4, which is on the government, landmarks, and symbols. We will start by continuing with what chapter 3 finished, which is how the American government began.
