Memory Work --> Psalm 119:11-12 (International Children’s Bible Version)
I have taken your words to heart, so I would not sin against you. Lord, you should be praised. Teach me your demands. We had a rough week. We struggled in most of our special classes. We just couldn't seem to follow directions and be on task. The same behaviors were exhibited in the class as well. I am hoping that this week is better. So far, so good. :) We are slacking in our school fundraiser department, Funds for furniture. They do not have to bring in a lot, but we have a school goal of $2000. The money raised will go towards new classroom furniture such as desk, wobbly chairs, and even hallway seating. Our field trip was a success! The students enjoyed the walk and the musical. We talked about our favorite and least favorite parts of the musical. They even became mini Rotten Tomato critics and gave the musical a rating. It was a fun and exciting way to kick off Lutheran School's Week! We still have more fun things in store this week. The rest of the dress-up day information is below:
Math: We wrapped up topic 8 and we will move into a new topic. The new topic is short, multiplying by multiples of 10, so we should finish it by the end of next week. It is only 3 lesson! The goal is to start the new topic tomorrow but that will be decided by today's test. :) Social Studies: We take our BHM unit test tomorrow. The students each received a study guide, that they were asked to take home on Friday to the studying process. They were to bring them back so that we can use them in class during our review sessions. So, those will be coming back home today, and I will resend the power point presentation from last week, along with the jeopardy game that we played. Since, the unit is over, we are going to move back into our social studies text books and focus on chapter 12. We will do a hardcore review, as we haven't talked about those things for a month. Reading: As a treat for their hard work, we will be taking a break from literature circles starting next week. So, this will be the last week of literature circles until after spring break. When we come back from spring break, we will hop right back into our books, finish them up and then start working on their in class project. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about literature circles. Important dates:

Memory Work: Psalm 119:9-10 --> How can young people keep their way pure? By guarding it according to your word. With my whole heart I seek you; do not let me stray from your commandments.
We had another 'okay' week. We are strangely struggling with being on task, focused, and following directions. It is even leaking into our specials (art, German, library, music and choir). Hopefully things turn around. Friends are still sick, but it seems that we are all moving towards being healthy. Thank you to those who sent in wipes! On March 9, we will take our spring walking trip with 4th grade to see Dog Man: The Musical. I am still missing some pieces, form or money, from friends, so if you have not already turned it in, then please do so before Friday. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. Next week is Lutheran School's Week. Yay! Each day we will do and wear something different. Later this week, an email will go out and I will send a reminder on what the class chooses for our Monday dress up day. Tuesday is flannel/plaid day. Wednesday the students may wear red, white or black. On Thursday, the theme is "Places I Love." Which means that they get to dress up showing a place that they love. So maybe wearing "Cubs" gear because they love Wrigley Field. Or if they've been to Disney Land and they have something from there (hat, shirt, socks, etc), they can wear that. On Friday, which is Grandparents day, they are to dress up fancy. If you have any questions or concerns about Thursday and Friday, feel free to let me know. Religion: We moved into our new unit, which is to teach the students how to become Bible explorers. In this unit the students will learn about the Bible itself. We will learn who the Bible was written by, the languages that it was written in, the different things that it has to help us, and why we need it in our day to day lives. There are about 7 lessons in this unit, and they each focus on a different part. We started off by learning about the importance of God’s word. We spent some time learning about the history of the Bible and the different languages that it was written in. We will spend the rest of the week learning about the Daily Dozens that God wants us to apply in our every day lives. On Friday, you should ask them to teach you the 12 Daily Dozen verses. :) Math: We are approaching the end of topic 8. We are about to start reviewing for the test. We will spend the rest of this week and Monday, reviewing for the test, which will be Tuesday. Continue to have them practice rounding to the nearest ten and hundreds, and estimating the sum and difference. Encourage them to practice the mental math strategies that we've learned. When we move into the studying phase, encourage them to really review the practice test, as the test will always be similar to that. I encourage you to give them practice problems similar to those that are on the practice test when they're studying for the test. Reading: We are approaching the last couple of weeks for our literature circles. After spring break, we will be done with our books, and will begin to move into the project phase. The projects are group projects and will be done here in class. They will not have any extra work on the home front. Once the projects are complete, which should be about the beginning of April, we will move back into our reading curriculum things, which means our regular reading, spelling, and grammar homework will come back. Social Studies: We have wrapped our Black History Month Unit and finished our presentations. We moved into the studying phase. We have started to work on our study guides, which involves them being able to answer a question. The questions on the study guide are the same if not similar to those that will be on the test. We will also have a jeopardy game, that I will email home, along with the power point presentation that I put together. I will email that presentation later today, and I will email the jeopardy game on Monday. The test will be next Wednesday. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. Important Dates:
