Parent-teacher conferences are this Thursday. They begin at 1:00 and are about 10-15 minutes in length. Report cards and MAP scores will be available before Thursday so that you will have a chance to review them before conferences. See you then!
The memory work for the week comes from Genesis 2:3. It is due March 9 → "So God blessed the seventh day and hallowed it, because on it God rested from all the work that he had done in creation." Math: We are in the reviewing stages of topic 6. We are moving through some review pages and the practice test. We will also take some time and play some review games. Lesson six confused some of them as they are not always sure how to divide the shape. So, we will take some time next week to do a recap of lesson 6. The math test will be Thursday, March 11. Reading: Although we had a short week, we hopped into a new unit. We reviewed expository text and main idea. We are reading stories about Earth and its neighbors. We are learning about the scientist and astronauts that created satellites and rockets to explore space. This ties in perfectly with some of our Black History projects (Mae Jemison, Katherine Jackson, and Mary Jackson). We will also spend some time looking at suffixes again, focusing on -y and -ly. Science: We started chapter 4 today which, is on climate. This is a continuation of our last chapter, which was on weather and the water cycle. In this chapter, we will learn about the equator and how that affects the climate. We will also learn about the three climate regions and the five climate zones. We will spend some time learning about greenhouse gas, the greenhouse effect, and climate change. Important Dates:
