Hot lunches are back! The first hot lunch day will be February 5th. You should have received an email with the google form information earlier today.
Tomorrow is remote Wednesday, but it will be a little abnormal. Throughout the school, teachers are freeing up class periods so that families may watch the Inauguration together if they choose to. However, it is not a mandatory thing. On Thursday, we will have a brief discussion about it, but there will not be an assignment that they will need to complete. Math: We are making our way through topic 5. On Friday, we began looking at multiplication and division word problems. At first, there was some panic, but as the lesson progressed, we began to feel comfortable with them. The rest of the topic will focus on us solving word problems and creating our own. Reading: We are still focusing on expository text and the author's point of view. Our topic this week is on animals and how we can help them survive. We will read about sea turtles, whooping cranes, and this company called PAWS. Throughout the rest of the week, the students will begin to apply the things that we learned from last week. We will learn about suffixes this week and how some words have BOTH suffixes and prefixes. For spelling/phonics, we are focusing on three-letter blends (SCR, THR, SPL, SPR, and SQU). Challenge them to think of other words outside of their spelling words that follow the three-letter blends that we are learning. Important Dates:
