Again, welcome back & Happy New Year! I’m so glad that we’re all back together, and tomorrow we get to be all together in the classroom. As we prepare for our in-school learning sessions to resume, we have to prepare our bags with the things that we will need. Below you will find what they will need to bring on Wednesday and Thursday. Once all of these items are in, we’ll be ready to rock and roll.
Wednesday:
Math: We are moving along in topic 5, which is teaching us to look for patterns inside of a multiplication table. This topic will also cover multiplication and division word problems. So, it would not hurt to have them start working on them now. Science: We are moving through our weather unit. In this first chapter, we will learn how water affects the weather. We will spend a little extra time learning about the water cycle, and how it affects the weather all around us. As we move throughout this unit, they will be learning and taking notes on the weather so they can build a structure that can withstand different weather conditions. Reading: With the second half of the year upon us, we are switching to weekly units. Before, we would spend two weeks on a topic, but future units will mostly be review with some new additions. So, that means that there will be a reading and spelling test every week. This week we are reviewing expository text while focusing on the author's point of view. We are also going to spend some time working with prefixes and silent letters. Our main topic is the government and how voting helps make the government work. So, we will read a lot of stories and informational text on voting and why it is important. Important Dates:
