The warm days are coming, so please continue to send water bottles. Water bottles should be the kind that can be refilled at the water fountain here at school. Due to the warmer weather, we will also begin going outside for lunch. Please start having them pack their towels to leave in their lockers.
The memory work for the week comes from Genesis 8:22. It is due April 13 → “As long as the Earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.“ Math: We will take our topic 10 math test this Thursday. Our next focus point is fractions. We will spend about a month on them as we complete topics 12 and 13. We will begin learning about the basics, such as numerators and denominators. We will also learn about whole numbers and how to represent them in their fraction form. Reading: We will continue our work from last week on the narrator’s point of view. We will spend some time reviewing how to identify who the narrator is and how they are feeling. We will continue to practice explaining the narrator’s point of view and providing evidence from the text to support it. We are introducing a new genre this week, realistic fiction. We will spend some time learning to look for text features and clues to help us identify realistic fiction in the stories that we read. Science: We started chapter 4 before spring break, so we spent last week reviewing lessons 1 and 2. We spent a lot of time talking about climate change, greenhouse gases, and the greenhouse effect. I was proud to see them taking the things that we learned and apply them to their lives. They asked great questions and had awesome ideas for how we can slow down/prevent climate change. This week we will work on lesson 3 before we move into reviewing for the chapter test. The test is shaping out to be April 16 or April 20. Important Dates:
