Third Grade Rocks! Let’s just yell that on top of the mountains. I am very proud of them!
Please continue to send snow pants and boots, as we will continue to go outside if the weather permits. A lot of friends are getting sick, so for an extra precaution, I have them wipe down their desk every morning. As a result of that and wiping down our lunch tables, we are running low on wipes. So, if you can, please send in cleaning wipes. On March 9, third grade will join fourth grade in a walking field trip to Dominican University. We will go to the theater to see Dog Man: The Musical. The students will have a field trip form in their Tuesday Folders. Please fill out the form and return in by March 2, 2020. Writing: I am really impressed with their narrative pieces. They are working hard with organizing their thoughts and finding how to glue them together. I am thrilled to see them add their personality and different hooks. This week, we will look at some examples of introductory paragraphs and work on that prewriting step. My hope is that this project is helping them at home as they work on their BHM report. Math: This week we will take our topic 7 test and move into topic 8. In this new topic, things should be a little easier. We will work with addition and subtraction. In this topic, we will learn the properties for addition and subtraction, and we will look at different patterns. We will learn how to properly round whole numbers and how to use that to help with mental math. They will also learn how use their knowledge of rounding to help with estimating. Science: We are wrapping up chapter 6. Starting Thursday, we will move into the review stage. As I said, a jeopardy game will be made to help them to study, and we will take our time with moving through the review process. I will put together a study guide for them and allow them to add different things that they think they will need to prepare for the test. Important Dates:
