This week has been a crazy one. We've pushed everything aside for the most part because we wanted to focus on our chapel service. I think it was great! They were nervous at first, but I think they managed to shake the nerves off pretty well. I am so very proud of them!
Math: We took our math test yesterday, which means we finally close the door on multiplication for a little while. Some are excited for division, and others are not so excited. Either way, it is going to be fun! We will take baby steps together, and take our time with it. Reading: We are still spending time with theme, as some of them still show a few signs of not being able to identify it in a text. However, I feel very confident in our ability to successfully move on Friday. We are still working hard on our lit circle projects, and we are hoping to finish part 1 by the end of the week! :) We have taken a break from our stories that we have been working on in writing, but I am hoping to get back into those next week. We are also spending some time learning how to make predictions while reading, and learning how to use our comprehension skills. Skills such as, rereading, making connections, and asking questions. Social Studies: We took a giant step back, and decided to revisit communities. We are diving deep into the different types of communities, how they are different, and what they consist of. We are wrapping up our map skills, and will begin to focus on community jobs/helpers in the different communities that we are learning about. Science: They are really excited about the design process, and I am considering letting them use the process to build something. We've constructed many parachutes, and created simple machines, but I think we could make something different this time. We will take our science test tomorrow, and begin to plan for our field trip on Tuesday. I will be taking two chaperones, so if you would like to be a chaperone, please let me know. Quick Blurb from Mrs. Dennen: Starting next week the students will start to receive memory work that is related to the Christmas Eve program. It is very important that they have these things memorized. We will work on them in school, but they will also be expected to work on them at home as well. It will be a lot, as the service is not far away, but we know that they can do it. They work on the songs in music, and should have/will have a tune in their head, when we begin to memorize the songs. We will start with the Bible Verses that they are expected to remember. They will bring home a sheet for them to keep at home, and a copy will be kept here at school. If they lose their copy at home, it can be found on the school website, and I will have a digital copy on my website before the week is out. If you have any questions please feel free to let me know and I can try to get an answer for you! Important Dates:
