ANOTHER WEEK DOWN! YAY! So far things are going pretty good in third grade. I am considering posting nightly homework on our class dojo story page. Would that be helpful? Let me know what you think.
Math: We have finished chapter three so we are getting ready for division! For some of us, that is scary, but we are also excited at the same time. We will review the chapter Friday and Monday before we take the test on Tuesday. I am thinking of doing the same thing I did for the quiz, where I ask them for questions, and use some of them on the test, and or as extra credit questions. They seemed to really like that idea on the quiz we took Friday. We will start division on Thursday. :) Reading: We are still focusing on theme, by using our knowledge of main idea, details, and predictions, to help us. Theme is still a little rocky so, we will spend some more time on it over the next week. We are still slowly working on our literature circle book projects. The goal is to have those in the final stages by November 15. As I said, this project is a project that will be done in the classroom. There is nothing they HAVE to do at home. Some have asked if they can do something, and I explained that they would have to talk it over with their parents. We are also entering the last stage for our fictional stories. I cannot wait for you guys to read them. They are very good! They ask for more writing days which make me very happy. Social Studies: We finished our chapter on celebrations, holidays, and traditions. We learned about very important holidays, and even found some that we really like. we are going to revisit communities and focus on the different types. We are going to look at rural, urban and suburban. We are also going to talk about the different types of jobs that can be found in these different communities. As we learn about communities, we are also going to work on our map skills. We will focus on the different parts of the map, what the map tells us, and how to properly use a map to find something or how to get somewhere. Science: We finished up our science chapter on technology and the design process. We will start preparing for our test, which will be Tuesday. We will also do a fun activity/experiment with the design process. Do to availability at the Museum and transportation, our field trip to the Museum of Science and Industry will be Tuesday November 13. I notice will come out on Monday November 5 with all of the information that you will need! I am so excited for this trip! Religion: If you have the time, please come to chapel service Wednesday, November 7. We are in charge of chapel that day, and we something special planned! We are collecting cans and crackers for the Harmony Food Bank. So, we are requesting that everyone brings in cans and crackers for the cause. Along with that, we are putting on a play about being thankful. We are so excited and cannot wait for you all to see it. Important Dates:
