Thank you all for being flexible over the last couple of weeks :) Some friends have missing assignments, so please encourage them to get those turned in by Tuesday, November 5th. If they need another copy, please email me and I will be sure to get them the assignments.
Our Halloween party is Thursday! If students would like to bring treats or goodie bags to pass out, feel free to send them! They are not allowed to wear a costume, but they can dress festive (skulls, pumpkins, things that are orange and black, etc). If you have any questions, please ask away. I know students where concerned about homework and the possibility of having it. The only homework on Thursday will be finishing up their spelling pages if they are not already in, and grammar book pages. Religion: We are putting together our presentations and we are looking forward to finalizing them and starting the rehearsal stage. Monday and Tuesday next week I will probably ask for volunteers, so if you are available please let me know. Our chapel service is November 6 @ 8:30. We are still collecting cans, so please continue to send those in. Also, as per the other news letter, money donations are welcomed as well. Reading: The essential questions for the week is, how can people help animals?" Yesterday we spent some time talking about our favorite animals and how we would feel if they were on the verge of being extinct. We talked about the many ways that we can help animals. We read a story about a brother and sister (8 and 7) who helped an organization save sea turtles. They were pretty shocked to see that kids can start a program. We are still focusing on author purpose and why authors write different things. We will also do some work with suffixes and revisit prefixes, since those are related. The extra credit word for the week is resources. Writing: We are in the last stages of the biographies that we've been working on. We took a break from them for a while, but the goal is to have them done by Friday or Tuesday. They will go up on the bulletin board outside of the room, so stand by for the pictures when they go. :) Math: We are getting stronger in the division, so please continue to practice with them at home. Since division is our struggle area, we are going to take a break from the book and review the things that we've covered so far. We will do a little check-in quiz to make sure that we can move forward successfully. Important Dates:
